Sir Run Run Shaw, hailing from Zhenhai, Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, was born in Shanghai. He was a Chinese entertainment mogul, philanthropist, producer, and honorary chairman of Hong Kong Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB), and the founder of Shaw Brothers Studio. Since 1985, Shaw has collaborated with the Ministry of Education through the Shaw Foundation, donating huge sums annually to improve educational facilities in mainland China. By 2012, his donations had reached nearly 4.75 billion HKD, funding 6,013 educational projects. Over the years, his contributions to social welfare and charity in mainland China have exceeded 10 billion HKD.
In 1974, he was awarded the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) by Queen Elizabeth II. In 1977, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II, becoming the first person in Hong Kong’s entertainment industry to receive the "Sir" title. In 1990, the Chinese government named asteroid 2899 after him as “Shaw Yifu Star.” In 1991, San Francisco, USA, declared September 8 as “Sir Run Run Shaw Day.” In 2002, he established the Shaw Prize, known as the "Nobel of the East," to annually recognize outstanding achievements in astronomy, life sciences, and medicine. He officially retired in 2011, making him the longest-serving and oldest CEO of a listed company globally.

Chairman Li Qihan, in an interview, expressed, "Sir Run Run Shaw was a film producer and entertainment mogul, with over a thousand films to his credit. Despite his towering presence in the film industry, no movie had ever been made about his life. I have always wanted to create a film about him, and the title has long been decided: *'天下逸夫' (Shaw Yifu)* or *'The Legend of Shaw'*.
To make this film, we began filming a documentary in January 2014, and by 2018, we started preparing for the movie *'天下逸夫' (Shaw Yifu)*. I traced Sir Run Run Shaw's footsteps, visited his friends and relatives, and their stories motivated me to keep going. The project became a beacon of light guiding my path, urging me to strive relentlessly to create a bright future through dreams and hard work. I hope that one day, a documentary or feature film from mainland China can compete for an Oscar in Hollywood."
It is reported that the global premiere will be attended by guests from home and abroad, including well-known figures from various sectors in Hong Kong, many of Shaw's relatives, and friends.
