Editor's note:Sports Training and Role Models for Success Citywide Girls Initiative (STARS CGI) is an initiative of the New York City Council created to support the healthy development of girls and young women of color to overcome the barriers to success, grow emotionally, academically and physically stronger—and become the leaders of their communities.

This was a conversation among decision makers and influencers in the public and private sectors to discuss:

  • The impact of the pandemic on mental health, and the shift in our leadership styles to better support our peers and young people.
  • The trickle down effect within the non profit space - how does the shift in leadership then correlate to the ways in which we engage the girls and gender expansive youth we serve.
  • Local government's plans to support New Yorkers, given their current stance on Mental Health.
